A Quick Trip

So in my nesting period (I guess that's what it is) I've become a little nutty about making sure the nursery and guestroom (what I'm calling the babysitter's suite) are in tip-top shape. Now, I won't bore you with my bed-moving extravaganza (none of which I actually participate in, only supervise in my oh-so-delicate condition), but the plan I hatched required that we trek out to Shreveport to switch out beds. That's right, I said switch out. Dewayne's mom had a lovely queen bed with a headboard/foot board that she offered to us in exchange for our frame only queen. Queen-to-queen switch people - Nutty. Which of course we need because we have tons of time for bed switching while running a business, training dogs, and decorating a baby's room. But, on our quick road trip, we were able to fit in a little bit of fun time for the dogs who as I've said before love, love, love the water. Dewayne's mom's house in Shreveport is on a lake, so of course the dogs made a beeline for the dirtiest, muckiest water they could find. Simon's become quite the little swimmer and I'm even thinking about investing in some floatable toys. Because sometimes he loses the stick and then we have to go find a new one. Perhaps something in a bright color... And yes, Lizzie had to stay on leash this time because, well, she's a flight risk. No one was really in the mood to wade out and get her when she completely disregarded what we were saying and went into the muck or over to the neighbors. It's a tough life she leads.
We finally found a bit of cleaner water for the dogs to swim in.
Retreiving the stick - one time he actually dove down like a duck to get it. He seemed a little shocked when he came up, but got the stick back. Objective mastered.
Creepy lake creature - or Simon shaking off as close the camera as possible. You be the judge.
While waiting for stick throwing, it's important to stay rested. Don't tax yourself too much by standing.
Lizzie heads for the muck. Something smells delightfully disgusting I'm sure.
Let me just stick my face in it as far as possible and consider rolling in this delicious stink.
Simon can't be bothered with the muck when there's a stick to be thrown. Hello - please throw stick NOW.
Stick retrieval - but will he make the swim...
Ah, shallower waters. No need to have crazy bug eyes here.
That's one happy, and tired dog. Oh, and stinky.

  1. Roo thinks Simon is Super Dog! Not only does he swim, he dives to fetch sticks! Wow...Roo is in awe.

Now Lizzy's sure footed fun in the stink is more Roo's style :)

    Happy nest building,

  3. Simon looks so happy after getting to splash around! Reminds me of our big boy bear- he can find a creek to hop in faster than any dog I know!
