Homebrew

I know, I know - it's been forever since I posted. But here's the deal - I went back to my full time day job, and it turns out that working full-time, running a website AND being pregnant takes a lot out of you. Who would have guessed?

So in all reality, I really don't have much to report about my poor neglected dogs. We haven't done much but throw the ball for Simon at night and work. I am happy to report that we have taught Simon how to exclusively put the ball on the couch or chair where we are sitting so as not to disrupt all the excess sitting we are doing at night. I would say he minds the laziness, but he really doesn't seem to care as long as the ball throwing continues.

But, there is some extracurricular activity going on. Dewayne has taken up a new hobby - high time if you ask me since the poor guy has really just had the hobby of school for two years. So his activity of choice, making wine and beer. That's right - you heard it here, my kitchen is now a homebrew haven. Complete with all sorts of homebrew essentials and a new fridge to ferment the beer at precise temperatures. He and his friend Michael have spent the last few weekends testing out recipes and generally making a mess. But they're having fun, so hey, I'm going with it.

So far, we've got a fruit wine almost ready to bottle, some pilsner fermenting, and today we're moving onto lager. I've requested a little more care to be taken this round to keep the kitchen somewhat clean because last weekend it looked like a bomb went off in there.
So instead of the rug, they put down a towel. Which Lizzie promptly assumed was a lovely place to rest. She is so helpful.
Simon as well. But really, this is what the dogs do during the brewing. They enjoy that the weather is finally a decent temperature and lay in the house, while watching their domain for squirrels or other intruders. Well, Lizzie does, until Simon disrupts her quiet time with, yep, you guessed it, the jolly ball.

So just in time to celebrate new baby's arrival, we should have a nice sampling of home-made alcohol. I'm sure all our guests will really appreciate it.
